A Travelogue to America's Historic Lodges.

Great Lodges of the National Parks is a four-part PBS series based on a book by Oregon author Christine Barnes. The book delved into the history and allure of the lodges, but the series took a more personal path, exploring the wonder and majesty of the parks and lodges from a traveler's perspective.

From content creation to conception, Hot Pepper Studios constructed an on-line environment where viewers can explore the stories of the Great Lodges. In addition to a wealth of historical and educational information, visitors can view Flash "travelogues", download souvenirs such as screensavers and desktop backgrounds and send digital postcards to friends.

With over 650,000 page views and 1.3 million downloads, Great Lodges was one of PBS' most popular sites in July of 2002. The site continues to draw tens of thousands of visitors each month and has become a destination on its own, well after the show has left the air. What can we say? It's fun, it's educational and it allows viewers to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a few fascinating minutes.
