Traveling in Style![]() "ZigZag: Real Stories, New Angles" is an Emmy-nominated, half hour documentary produced by award winning filmmakers Brad Smith and Beth Harrington that explores how transportation affects the daily lives of urban, suburban, and rural families. Offbeat and at times irreverent, the program features personal stories, such as: Emee Pumarega, a wedding planner who moved to Portland, Oregon to take advantage of public transportation but finds she is wedded to her car. The Blowers, a family so dedicated to biking and public transportation that their daughter had to take a bus to her high school prom. Roy Malensky, a berry farmer who must negotiate highly trafficked roads to transport fresh blueberries to Japan. Margorie Halford, a volunteer for Loaves and Fishes who walks a route to deliver lunches to shut-ins for what she calls "Meals on Heels." Complementing the broadcast, an interactive Web site (www.zigzagshow.org) allows viewers to post their transportation stories and see journals and profiles of the participating families, and preview short films and short segments of the program.
